Background & Experience
Sheyla is a counsellor in training, currently completing both a Masters in Psychology from Leicester University, UK, and a Masters in Counselling from Monash University, Australia. She offers therapeutic intervention in an International school currently and at Thrive Family sees children, adolescents and adults.
As a working mother of 3 (and a dog!), she understands that finding the right balance in life can be hard and sometimes overwhelming. She enjoys helping individuals and families find solutions to difficult problems, form meaningful connections and develop self-compassion. She practices in a calm, measured manner, with warmth and a touch of humour. Main approaches used draw from CBT, ACT and Solution focused therapies. Sheyla is currently supervised by Dr Ronina (Nina) Stevens
Having left her native Cuba as a teenager, she has lived and worked in France, Italy, the UK, Hong Kong, and now Singapore for the past 8 years. Her current studies follow almost 15 years working in managerial roles for retail businesses. She is well placed to support expats, third-culture children and adults, people who are finding transitions hard, and those working in corporate environments. She speaks fluent English, Spanish and Italian, and conversational French.
