Background & Experience
Bjørg (pronounced Biork) works with adolescents and adults for a variety of issues. The therapy sessions will function as a collaboration, where Bjørg will help the client find, nurture and strengthen individual resources and develop tools that can help empower the client and build stronger resilience for the future. Bjørg prioritises a safe and non-judgmental environment in sessions, and welcomes clients of all cultures, values, beliefs and sexual orientations.
Bjørg is accredited by Macquarie University’s Centre for Emotional health as a Cool Kids Accredited Provider and offers the Cool Kids Anxiety Program for children 12-18 years old and their parents
Various therapy forms will be implemented into the sessions, tailoring therapy to fit each individual client. The main therapies offered are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Clinical Hypnotherapy. In addition, Applied Positive Psychology, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Mindfulness will be implemented when relevant.
Bjørg is originally from Denmark but has lived abroad, in Europe, USA and Asia, for a total of 20 years. This has given her a strong understanding and appreciation of various cultures. Before pursuing the mental health industry she was educated in the medical sector, and has worked in both the private and public sectors. Furthermore, Bjørg has five years of experience working at a Helpline in various functions as a counsellor, trainer, and involvement in a suicide awareness programme. She has held various jobs and volunteer positions while being a trailing spouse. Her two children are born abroad and raised as third culture kids
