Background & Experience

He has more than a decade of experience working in the field of mental health, caring for individuals with health and mental health struggles. Some of these struggles include weight, chronic pain and diseases, sleep, mood, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorders as well as the day-to-day stressors. In his last role as a Senior Clinical Psychologist in Tan Tock Seng Hospital (a public hospital), apart from working with various medical disciplines to provide psychological care for the patients, he was actively involved in conducting group programmes and research.

In the last decade, Adrian was invited to present his scientific research and work on numerous occasions at international, regional and local meetings. He had also conducted countless trainings and workshops for corporate companies, hospital departments and post-graduate students. During this period with the hospital, he had received a prestigious scholarship to pursue post-graduate training.

Therapeutic Approaches

Adrian is trained and competent to apply a range of psychotherapy approaches and techniques to address psychological issues. Specifically, in the course of his work, he embraces the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Interpersonal and Social Rhythm Therapy (IPSRT). Adrian strongly believes that while experience predicts confidence, it does not predict competence. Thus, the continuous process of re-learning, practising, reflecting, improving and improvising are keys to his journey towards being a more competent clinical psychologist.

Professional Roles

Adrian is a registered psychologist with the Singapore Psychological Society (SPS), where he is also the Vice-President (Development) of the society. Apart from contributing to the profession’s society, Adrian sits on the Psychology Programme Advisory Committee in the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) and he serves as a Defence Psychologist in the Ministry of Defence (National Service), to render care for young men serving their National Service. Adrian continues to be involved in research works and he is currently holding teaching positions in the National University of Singapore and SUSS.
