Background and Experience
Maheen has gained experience working with children and adolescents in an international school in Singapore. She supported students with anxiety, self esteem issues, friendship issues and trauma using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. Maheen has also conducted group sessions in Assertiveness skills, Emotional Regulation skills and Mindfulness.
Maheen believes in working collaboratively with her clients in a safe and non judgmental space, empowering them to make positive changes in their lives. “Treat people as if they were what they ought to be and you help them to become what they are capable of being” Goeth’s words eloquently express how Maheen approaches her clients through awareness, compassion and care.
Therapeutic Approach
Maheen uses a person centred approach informed by Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Maheen’s interest lies in parenting and has worked with parents to better support their children. She is a certified Tuning into Kids Program Facilitator and has also completed ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training).
Personal
Maheen speaks four languages, English, Urdu, French and conversational Turkish. Her experience of having lived in nine countries has enabled her to be a culturally aware global citizen.This exposure has empowered her to bring sensitivity and cultural awareness to her life and to her work. In addition, it has enabled her to connect with individuals in different walks of life in a deeper and more meaningful manner. In her free time, Maheen enjoys baking, travelling and spending time with her family.
