Background and Experience:

Born in the United States, and having lived in both Malaysia and Singapore growing up, Alexis is familiar with the struggles of transitions. She first started in the corporate communications industry for both corporate and non-profits for a few years before embarking on her counselling training in both Melbourne and Singapore.

Prior to private practice, Alexis has worked with adolescents and adults in school and community settings. She is familiar with the Integrated Programme in independent schools and the local school system. She has worked with gifted and high-ability learners and is acutely aware of the difficulties that accompany them. Alexis also has worked with teenage clients presenting with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, peer relationships and difficult parent-child relationships. She understands how the adolescent development has its set of challenges and works closely with parents to better support their child.  With adults, Alexis sees that relationships, work and personal crises are a part of life. She has experience working with adults through issues such as grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties and work challenges. Alexis also provides coaching for a group of young professional adults in her church community for the last 6 years.

Therapeutic Approaches:

Her professional training includes Level 2 Schema Therapy, Level 1 Emotion-focused Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Alexis uses a collaborative approach with her clients to help them reach their goals and gain the inner healing that they need. Alexis is registered with the Singapore Association of Counselling and is currently working on her certification to be a Schema Therapist. Alexis strongly believes that every individual has their own inner resources within and being in therapy helps one tap into them to build resilience.

Personal

Outside work, Alexis enjoys doing pilates, having coffee talks with friends and being in nature.
